USS Torsk SS-423
2011 Dry Docking
March 13-20, 2011
After a couple of hours, the water is several feet deep but nowhere near lifting Torsk.
Looking forward as the crew watches the water rise.
We have a problem!!!!!!
Around 0100, as Torsk lifted off the blocks, she took an approximate 10 degree port list!
The crew on watch woke the ones who
were sleeping, and work began on correcting the list.
Looking forward across the bow, showing the angle of the port list.
The decision was made to put water into Main Ballast Tank 2C (on the starboard side) to counter the list.
Roger Warden, with safety harness and lines, went over the side to the tank tops to remove the manhole cover on MBT2C
Using a fire hose and water pumped from dockside, the process of adding water to the tank began.
This would continue throughout the night.
Looking over the stern, with the list showing.
Nat Little walking through Officers Country, which took some getting used to with the list on the boat.
Forward Torpedo Room rigged for red.
