A card game in the Crew's Mess!

Sean McNulty went up inside the periscope shears to examine the bearings on the #1 scope, which can be seen in the center of the image. The lower end of the fairing was obscuring the bearings, making it impossible to reach them from this angle.
Matt Harris looks on as Bob Gawe and Greg Cotton discuss the scope restoration topside on the sail.
A tolling of the bell ceremony was held topside at 5pm. Guns Mendelson led out, with Doc Derouin and Doc Beeghly ringing the bell as the name and date of each lost boat was called out. Several volunteers participated by reading off the names when Guns called them to the front.
After the ceremony, we had a cookout and lots of fun and stories!
