MK 37 Torpedo Load
USS Torsk SS-423
June 15, 2002
The Yorktown crew untangle the block and tackle that will be attached to the tail of the torpedo. The upper block is attached to a shackle on the sail which is positioned specifically for loading torpedoes into the Forward Torpedo Room.
The crane begins the lift which will place the
skid into position to feed to the receiving skid down below.
A come-along on the forward lifting strap will allow the angle of the skid to be
adjusted to match the skid in the Forward Room so that the torpedo can slide
easily between the two.
Moving the skid into place over the steps into the Forward Room.
A member of the Martin Imbach crew is adjusting the come-along for the proper angle, as Frank guides him.
