To get the sonar gear into the shack, we used a chainfall to lift the pieces over the lip of the door, tilted the base into the room, and then slid the rest of the unit in. In the left image, Gil is sandwiched between the Filter Scanner Unit and the BQS-4, with the BQR-7 pressing against his left shoulder. It was TIGHT in there. We had to do some creative positioning to get everything in there. Al Freund had to be sent into the shack over the top of the BQR-7 to help Mike Eacho and Gil because he was the only one who would fit !
On the right, Mike looks on as John plays with his new toy!
The console lights were hooked up and tested again, and John discussed power needs with Mike.
After Mike Eacho and Al Becker wired in power and a timer a couple weeks later, John came back down and finished the lighting scheme for the sonar shack. After a plex door is placed over the opening, the shack will be opened for display!
After the sonar gear was safely in place, we went back to the MK14 to get it moved to the upper skid mount. It was moved back to centerline in the compartment to allow us to use the chainfalls to lift it and the skid it was on into position.
Al Becker hauls the 6-Ton chainfall into position as Al Freund catches a quick nap while sitting on the fish!
