Torsk Volunteer Association
Accomplishments
When Torsk was decomissioned in 1968, many items were removed to be used
on active submarines, or placed in storage. During her time in the Naval
Reserves (1968-71) and in the early years in Baltimore,
more items disappeared, leaving her bare and looking nothing like what an active
submarine would look like.
The Torsk Volunteer Association's
goal is restoration and preservation. Our volunteers have spent many
thousands of hours restoring compartments and equipment to "in-service"
appearance, in order to give the visitor the most authentic and
historically correct interpretation of Torsk as she would have appeared
during her service in the mid 1960's.
The Torsk Volunteer
Association has been able to accomplish all the work and much
more through the generous contribution of hours, funding and
material provided by our volunteers and its many supporters!
